Schutt Schutt Schutt, Video Installation, 1:43 min, Brick, Jacket, Baseball Bat, 2024
The video installation Schutt Schutt Schutt consists of a video loop, a baseball bat, and a jacket. The video shows me walking through an exhibition. The exhibition features models that I built and used for film shoots from past films. My gait through the exhibition is menacing; with the baseball bat, I threaten the models, as if about to destroy them. There is a strong sense of fear—what will happen to the models? The baseball bat bears visible signs of wear, possibly serving as evidence that they have already been smashed. However, the ultimate fate of the models remains uncertain. In this work, I deliberately play with the feeling of the unknown—a state of suspense that fosters hope for a good ending, yet that ending never comes. Only hope remains.
